How IVTG Marked 2022 International Women’s Day
On Tuesday 8th March 2022 the world celebrated international women’s day. Each year, a day dedicated to celebrate, appreciate and call for action on women’s contributions towards a better world.
The international women’s day become recognized globally by the United Nations in 1975. In doing so the UN General Assembly cited two reasons for deciding to observe the celebration of women’s day, the first was to recognize the fact that securing peace and social progress and the full enjoyment of human rights and fundamental freedoms require the active participation, equality and development of women. The second was to acknowledge the contribution of women to the strengthening of international peace and security
The theme for this year’s international women’s day was ‘Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow.’ The campaign was represented by the #BreakTheBias hashtag. The main message for the day was how we can all work towards a world that is equitable, inclusive, and free from bias and discrimination so the playing field is levelled for all the women.
While people of walks of life, governments, UN, CSOs, schools, companies, faith based entities and many more, were celebrating this day our female staff and other colleagues weren’t left out. They came up with different messages that were widely shared on our social media. See the message below;
