My name is Christabel Lusinde, from Kakamega Kenya. I am 26 years old, from a family of 5, with two brothers and two sisters. My dad struggled to feed us, so education was not on his list of items for 5 children.

I sat for my KCSE in 2014, not able to join the university.  However, my heart never ceased working hard to achieve my goal of getting a degree in International Relations. I used to work from one farm to another farm, photography, house work and lastly in a construction site as an unskilled worker in 2015, saving money to see me through my university education, having saved some cash, got admission at the University Of Masinde Muliro but I didn’t have fees, until when I met  Mr. Zachuas ogonji (CEO Inua Village to Global Foundation ) in 2017 whom I narrated my story, 10 minutes conversation changed everything for good, Inua village to global foundation offered me a school fees scholarship, I immediately reported to Masinde University to pursue my bachelors. I had several struggles at a personal level i.e. taking care of my son’s needs too but managed to thrive beyond that.

My son and I, our lives have completely changed, I now own a grocery store where I sell part-time to raise school fees for my son, I am happy to have completed my education with the help of Inua Village to Global Foundation. To many young girls and boys, we share many struggles in common but your consistency, determination matters. Stay focused and keep on the right path, It’s not too late to pursue your dream.

Christabel Lusinde.
